Seven columns of four face-up cards each are dealt at the start, with the remaining 24 cards held in the stock for one pass. Tableau columns build downward in the same suit — move any face-up card along with everything above it onto a column whose top card is the same suit and one rank higher. Only a King (with or without cards on top) may fill an empty column. Play cards from the waste pile onto the tableau or foundations. Build all four foundations from Ace to King to win.

Australian Patience builds downward in suit. All 28 opening tableau cards are face-up, and any face-up card can carry the cards above it to a legal destination, even if that tail is unordered. The 24-card stock has one pass and no redeal.
One 52-card deck. Seven columns receive four face-up cards each. Tableau builds downward by suit: a 7 of hearts can receive a 6 of hearts. Any face-up lead card can carry the cards above it to a destination one rank higher in the same suit. Only King-led groups fill empty columns.
Foundations build upward by suit from Ace to King. Stock deals one card at a time to waste; no recycling. Win by moving all 52 cards to foundations.
In Klondike, any card of the right rank and opposite color extends a tableau sequence. In Australian Patience, only the same suit continues a sequence. This restriction means fewer legal destinations per card. With one deck, each rank and suit has only one possible next-higher parent card, so exposing that parent matters.
The group-move rule also permits unordered face-up tails. Check the top card the tail leaves at its source and the card it leaves on top at its destination.
The stock has one pass and no recycling. A covered waste card may become available if cards above it are played, but drawing again can reduce immediate access. Before drawing, check whether the visible waste card can open a useful tableau move or advance a foundation.
