The key tension in Shamrocks
You can move cards in more directions than in stricter fan variants, but each fan reaches saturation quickly. A move that is tactically legal can still be strategically expensive if it fills a high-utility fan to its limit.
Strategic priorities in order
- Favor moves that expose foundation candidates within one turn.
- Protect fan capacity on high-connectivity ranks.
- Avoid ping-pong adjacency cycles without structural gain.
- Use empty fans only for concrete conversion plans.
- Re-check rank-neighbor density after each major move.
Common mistakes
- Spending multiple moves for motion with no foundation acceleration.
- Filling key fans to three cards before extracting buried low ranks.
- Underestimating how fast the board can become capacity-locked.
