Use the paired foundations to expose a useful rank.
The Ace and King foundations of a suit can exchange their top cards. That flexibility helps when the next card you need is already exposed in reserve or waste.

Read both ends of a suit
One foundation begins with an Ace and builds upward; the other begins with a King and builds downward. Before moving an exposed card, check the next rank needed on both sides. Two copies of every rank exist, so the choice of foundation can affect which card becomes useful later.
The base Ace and King are fixed. Every other top foundation card may reverse to the opposite foundation of its suit if it follows that foundation’s sequence. A 5 can move from the ascending side onto a 6 on the descending side, exposing the ascending side’s 4 again. If a 6 sits atop the descending side while the ascending side shows a 5, the 6 can move the other way.
Reverse with a purpose
A legal reversal can simply be undone, so moving a card back and forth makes no progress by itself. Reverse when it lets a reserve or waste card enter a foundation, or when it exposes a rank that will accept a card you can reach soon.
Only the top card of a foundation moves. If several cards need to cross, each must move separately in legal sequence. Review the two visible foundation tops after every reversal; the next legal move may change.
Keep the waste accessible
A reserve move pulls the waste top into the newly empty space. This preserves that card before another stock draw covers it. If waste is empty, the reserve takes the next stock card instead. You can draw from stock one card at a time and turn the waste over once when stock empties.
Before drawing, look for a reserve placement and then consider reversals that make the waste top playable. The single redeal offers a second look at buried waste cards, but the sequence of draws is fixed.

Picture Patience uses the same reserve and stock layout, but all Aces and Kings are shuffled into the deck and foundation reversals are unavailable. Patriarchs starts its foundations for you and gives you more control over which ranks they expose.
