Keep both suit directions moving.
Two decks supply eight suit foundations: one Ace-to-King and one King-to-Ace run per suit. Twenty waste piles each begin with a face-up card. A new stock card can go to a legal foundation or onto any waste pile.

Check both exits for the card
The 2 of Hearts can build on the Ace-up Hearts foundation when it shows Ace, while the Queen of Hearts can build on the King-down Hearts foundation when it shows King. Middle ranks may eventually fit either direction. Before putting a dealt card on waste, check its current legal foundation destinations; then check whether covering a waste top will delay a card needed by either direction.
Only waste tops can move to foundations. A 2 of Hearts under a Jack of Spades cannot help its Ace-up foundation until the Jack leaves. Twenty piles provide options, but each placement changes a real access dependency.
Understand the automatic refill
All twenty piles are occupied at the start. When a waste-to-foundation move empties a pile and stock remains, the next stock card automatically appears there. Clearing a pile can reveal a new foundation move without spending a separate placement decision. After the stock is gone, an emptied pile stays empty.
Compare the exposed ranks needed on the ascending and descending suit runs before drawing again. When several waste tops can build, the order of those moves determines which stock cards are exposed by auto-refill and which pile tops remain available.
